The Beacon & Tom Boyd

Tom Boyd created this blog when he was the principal of Boyd and Nicholas, the premier cost report preparation firm in home care and hospice. At a time when industry newsletters inundated people with survival skills and focused on looming challenges, Tom felt that there was a need for good news, inspirational stories, and reminders about what is important in life.  Ultimately, Tom’s “Odd Friday” newsletter became one of the most popular communications offered by Boyd and Nicholas.

When Boyd and Nicholas was acquired a few years ago, Tom felt a need to keep the “good news” newsletter going.  He started this blog.  It was affectionately called a “sacred cow” and “Tom’s Baby,” because he felt such a commitment to it’s meaningful mission.  He kept the Boyd and Nicholas name attached to the Blog, so that it would be clear that this was not a part of Tom’s new ventures.  As the Blog grew, though, it became clear that it was time to give it a brand of it’s own.  In late 2018 The Beacon was born.

We hope that The Beacon expands beyond home care and hospice. Share it with friends, family and co-workers if it speaks to you! You can also connect with us on Instagram and Facebook – Check out the social media links on the home page.
